MLD-521 Moldflow: Warpage

This advanced course will allow the user to predict how the part is predicted to deform and warp after being ejected out of the mold. Additionally, the user will be introduced to how the warpage solver can be used to determine the root cause of part warpage, so solutions can be made quickly and before cutting steel.

After the class, the student will be able to:

• Understand the difference between shrinkage and warpage
• Understand why warpage occurs, and what the main sources of warpage in injection molding are
• Set up datums and anchor planes to better quantify how parts are predicted to warp
• Understand what are the important material properties required to improve the accuracy of shrinkage and warpage predictions
• Understand a workflow for troubleshooting warpage problems quickly and efficiently
